Salome's father was the Kingdom's cartographer and Jose was its young helper. They had set sail the week before aboard the Sword, the admiral vessel of the Royal fleet. The bow was heading toward the moths of Rurok, where stone guardians loomed above the ocean waves to control access to the Kingdom. They would have to pass them, face unknown routes and search for new islands with fresh food for the people. They had considered almost all the risks of the mission. Almost, because they were unaware that Marcus, Jose's brother, hiding among the wineskins of the galley, was waiting for the moment to take revenge.
