Two university students from different cultures sitting in a classroom, discussing a project together. The room has desks, books, and a whiteboard. One student looks inquisitive while the other explains something animatedly.

Introduction to the exercise and its purpose:

This exercise aims to improve the ability to write dialogues between characters from different cultures, focusing on how cultural differences affect communication.

Situation:

Two college students of different nationalities meet for a group project and have to discuss their different cultural perspectives on a specific topic.

Exercise:

Write the dialogue between the two students, bringing out the cultural differences and how they influence their view of the project.

Suggestions and development of the exercise:

Begin with a description of the classroom or meeting place, creating an academic atmosphere. Get the dialogue started by introducing the two students and their cultures of origin. Use the dialogue to bring out differences and similarities in their opinions. Insert cultural misunderstandings and how they are resolved. Conclude the scene with greater mutual understanding and a solution for the project.
