I opened the door wide and looked outside: the fields were on fire. Soaring fires devoured the barn, the tool shed, the old truck. The captive horses in the corral were neighing in despair. Even Molly's oak tree burned, and of her swing remained the burning butts of two worn ropes. They had done it: they had set my life on fire.
