SHBT was the magic word. It had been taught to him on the day he was hired. Smile, Hi, Bye and Thank you. The basis of every good supermarket cashier. As well as looking good and always being helpful. And Margaret was a model cashier: she greeted customers, was quick to pass products over the scanner and to help customers bag their groceries.
